The Oaks ready to defend their neighboorhood!
The Oaks is ready to take their neighborhood back! Santa Paula Police Department's Detective Dave Lusk and Sgt Ishmael Cordero will be giving a presentation on how we can join together and start a Neighborhood Watch. The presentation will be followed up by Santa Paula's Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and Fire Captain Steve Lazenby. The SPPD cannot do it all themselves, they need the public to help by being their eyes and ears, to let them know what is going on. A Neighborhood Watch group for all areas north of Richmond road will be forming in October. Richmond road has been chosen as "our line in the sand". Say road was going to be the line, but there has been such a large number of people between Say and Richmond that wanted to be involved that Richmond was the best starting point. This area will also include all areas west of Ojai road North of Richmond road. Gangbangers, drug dealers, etc, have moved into this area and thus all of the related crime has came along with them, it is time to flush them out of our area and make our neighborhood safe again. The meeting will be held October 23, 2008 at 7:00PM at the Bedell School cafeteria. If you would like to be part of this effort please attend this informal get together, until then here is a list of a few basic things you can do to help the cause.
Report any suspicious activities to the SPPD,
Place motion activated security lighting in and around your property, criminals like it dark, the more lighting you have the better
Keep valuables out of sight and lock your vehicles at night
Lock your doors and window at night and when you are not home
Utilize the"Rotten Neighbor" website for posting information

Police report 6 arrests during probation search : Santa Paula : Ventura County Star:
"Santa Paula police arrested six people this week after a search of a home where they suspected drugs were being sold, authorities said.
Tips about suspicious activity led police to a home in the 1000 block of North Ojai Road, where officers conducted a probation search Tuesday afternoon.
Among those arrested was Arlene Macias Hernandez, 38, who was wanted in connection with a July 2007 stabbing, said Senior Officer Ryan Smith. Authorities suspect Hernandez stabbed another woman after an argument, causing moderate injuries, Smith said.
Hernandez was booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, police said. Police also arrested three men and an underage girl on suspicion of drug-related offenses, authorities said.
The men were booked into county jail and the girl, a runaway, was released to her parents, police said. Another man was arrested on a warrant for receiving or possessing stolen property, police said."
